ROC Environmental knowledge management(Phase II)

The Environment Protection Administration (EPA) begins the first phase of the “ROC Environmental knowledge management” project in December, 2004, and continues current, and the second phase since April, 2006. The first phase is to develop an integrated and extendable Knowledge Management and Employee Portal System Platform to integrate the Single-Sign-On (SSO) mechanism and to integrate individual legacy systems. And this phase focuses on collecting knowledge objects, improving SSO and user account management, and integrating the Environmental Project Registration into the KM platform. This project includes the following objectives: (1) To collect environmental knowledge objects; (2) To collect and manage job descriptions and job specifications; (3) To design and create the synchronization of the user accounts of subordinate agencies; (4) To enrich and upgrade the KM platform; (5) To integrate the metadata of environmental objects with the KM platform; (6) To suggest the next steps of the development of the KM platform. All the above items have been accomplished and the related sub-systems have been online, but not including the Environmental Project Registration (EPR) sub-system. The EPR sub-system is scheduled to debut on January 1st, 2007.
